As Christmas Eve approached, with no family or friends near, and the pandemic still raging, the wind and lake were in a mood. “I was trying to capture the feeling of it,” Tusa says, “the riled-up water, the cold and the vulnerability of all of us. I focused on this this lonely stand of trees, and employed a very slow shutter speed, some exaggerated camera movement and a bit of over exposure to come as close as I could.”
